2024-04-29misc/pvpanic-pci: register attributes via pci_driverThomas Weißschuh1-3/+1
In __pci_register_driver(), the pci core overwrites the dev_groups field of the embedded struct device_driver with the dev_groups from the outer struct pci_driver unconditionally. Set dev_groups in the pci_driver to make sure it is used. This was broken since the introduction of pvpanic-pci. 2022-04-29misc/pvpanic: Convert regular spinlock into trylock on panic pathGuilherme G. Piccoli1-2/+8
The pvpanic driver relies on panic notifiers to execute a callback on panic event. Such function is executed in atomic context - the panic function disables local IRQs, preemption and all other CPUs that aren't running the panic code. With that said, it's dangerous to use regular spinlocks in such path, as introduced by commit b3c0f8774668 ("misc/pvpanic: probe multiple instances"). This patch fixes that by replacing regular spinlocks with the trylock safer approach. It also fixes an old comment (about a long gone framebuffer code) and the notifier priority - we should execute hypervisor notifiers early, deferring this way the panic action to the hypervisor, as expected by the users that are setting up pvpanic. 2021-07-21misc/pvpanic-pci: Allow automatic loadingEric Auger1-0/+2
The virtual machine monitor (QEMU) exposes the pvpanic-pci device to the guest. On guest side the module exists but currently isn't loaded automatically. So the driver fails to be probed and does not its job of handling guest panic events. Instead of requiring manual modprobe, let's include a device database using the MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE macro and let the module auto-load when the guest gets exposed with such a pvpanic-pci device. kernel.h is being used as a dump for all kinds of stuff for a long time. Here is the attempt to start cleaning it up by splitting out panic and oops helpers. There are several purposes of doing this: - dropping dependency in bug.h - dropping a loop by moving out panic_notifier.h - unload kernel.h from something which has its own domain At the same time convert users tree-wide to use new headers, although for the time being include new header back to kernel.h to avoid twisted indirected includes for existing users.
