Kbuild conventionally uses $(obj)/ for generated files, and $(src)/ for
checked-in source files. It is merely a convention without any functional
difference. In fact, $(obj) and $(src) are exactly the same, as defined
in scripts/Makefile.build:
src := $(obj)
When the kernel is built in a separate output directory, $(src) does
not accurately reflect the source directory location. While Kbuild
resolves this discrepancy by specifying VPATH=$(srctree) to search for
source files, it does not cover all cases. For example, when adding a
header search path for local headers, -I$(srctree)/$(src) is typically
passed to the compiler.
This introduces inconsistency between upstream and downstream Makefiles
because $(src) is used instead of $(srctree)/$(src) for the latter.
To address this inconsistency, this commit changes the semantics of
$(src) so that it always points to the directory in the source tree.
Going forward, the variables used in Makefiles will have the following
meanings:
$(obj) - directory in the object tree
$(src) - directory in the source tree (changed by this commit)
$(objtree) - the top of the kernel object tree
$(srctree) - the top of the kernel source tree
Consequently, $(srctree)/$(src) in upstream Makefiles need to be replaced
with $(src).

This tablets gets a lot of things wrong:
- the secondary button is reported through Secondary Tip Switch
- the third button is reported through Invert
Fortunately, before entering eraser mode, (so Invert = 1),
the tablet always sends an out-of-proximity event.
So we can detect that single event and:
- if there was none but the invert bit was toggled: this is the
third button
- if there was this out-of-proximity event, we are entering
eraser mode, and we will until the next out-of-proximity.

When using the XBox Wireless Controller Elite 2 over Bluetooth,
the device exports the paddle on the back of the device as a single
bitfield value of usage "Assign Selection".
The kernel doesn't process those usages properly and report KEY_UNKNOWN
for it.
SDL doesn't know how to interprete that KEY_UNKNOWN and thus ignores the
paddles.
Given that over USB the kernel uses BTN_TRIGGER_HAPPY[5-8], we
can tweak the report descriptor to make the kernel interprete it properly:
- we need an application collection of gamepad (so we have to close the
current Consumer Control one)
- we need to change the usage to be buttons from 0x15 to 0x18

This pen is compatible with multiple Wacom tablets, but we only add support
for the Intuos Pro 2 M, as this is the one our user reported the bug
against.
We can not generically add all compatible Wacom tablets as we are
writing the offsets by hand.
The point of this HID-BPF program is to work around a firmware limitation
where the pressure is repeated every other report.
Given that we know this will happen, we can change the first new pressure
information with the mean compared to the previous one. This way we
smooth the incoming pressure without losing information.

This commit adds a fix for XPPen Artist 24 where the second button on
the pen is used as an eraser.
It's a "feature" from Microsoft, but it turns out that it's actually
painful for artists. So we ship here a HID-BPF program that turns this
second button into an actual button.
Note that the HID-BPF program is not directly loaded by the kernel itself
but by udev-hid-bpf[0]. But having the sources here allows us to also
integrate tests into tools/testing/selftests/hid to ensure the HID-BPF
program are actually tested.

This patch enhances the firmware reset handler in the Intel Integrated
Sensor Hub (ISH) driver. Previously, the ISH firmware would send a
MNG_RESET_NOTIFY message in response to an empty IPC message from the
ish_wakeup function. With the introduction of the feature to load ISH
firmware from the host on the LunarLake platform, the ISH bootloader
now involves the IPC function. This results in an additional
MNG_RESET_NOTIFY message being sent by ISH bootloader after power on.
Consequently, the driver receives two MNG_RESET_NOTIFY messages during
system boot up. This can disrupt the dev->dev_state during the first
reset flow due to the subsequent reset notify message.
To address this, the patch modifies the fw_reset_work_fn function to skip
the execution of ishtp_reset_compl_handler during the first reset flow if
a reset is pending. The ishtp_reset_compl_handler will then be executed
during the second reset flow, ensuring the dev->dev_state is not disrupted.

Starting from the Lunar Lake generation, the ISH firmware has been
divided into two components for better space optimization and increased
flexibility. These components include a bootloader that is integrated
into the BIOS, and a main firmware that is stored within the operating
system's file system.
Introduce support for loading ISH main firmware from host. This feature is
applicable for Lunar Lake and later generation.
Current intel-ishtp-loader, is designed for Chrome OS based systems which
uses core boot and has different firmware loading method. For non chrome
systems the ISH firmware loading uses different method.
Key differences include:
1. The new method utilizes ISHTP capability/fixed client to enumerate the
firmware loader function. It does not require a connection or flow control,
unlike the method used in Chrome OS, which is enumerated as an ISHTP
dynamic client driver, necessitating connect/disconnect operations and flow
control.
2. The new method employs a table to describe firmware fragments, which are
sent to ISH in a single operation. Conversely, the Chrome OS method sends
firmware fragments in multiple operations within a loop, sending only one
fragment at a time.
Additionally, address potential error scenarios to ensure graceful failure
handling.
- Firmware Not Found: Triggers if request_firmware() fails, leaving ISH in
a waiting state.
Recovery: Re-insmod the ISH drivers to retry.
- DMA Buffer Allocation Failure: Occurs during prepare_dma_bufs(), leading
to ISH waiting state. Allocated resources are released.
Recovery: Re-insmod the ISH drivers to retry.
- Incorrect Firmware Image: Causes ISH to refuse loading after three failed
attempts.
Recovery: A platform reset is required.

The logic in dualshock4_get_calibration_data() used uninitialised data
in case of a failed kzalloc() for the transfer buffer.
The solution is to group all business logic and all sanity checks
together, and jump only to the latter in case of an error.
While we're at it, factor out the axes' labelling, since it must happen
either way for input_report_abs() to succeed later on.

Certain devices, both from STM and Weida Tech, need to be woken up after
having entered a deeper sleep state. The relevant places to wake up such
device is during our initial HID probe, and after resuming.

Some STM microcontrollers need 400µs after rising clock edge in order to
come out of their deep sleep state. This in turn means that our address
probe will fail as the device is not ready to service it.
Retry the probe once after a delay to see if the device came alive,
otherwise treat the device as missing.

It can be interesting to inject events from BPF as if the event were
to come from the device.
For example, some multitouch devices do not all the time send a proximity
out event, and we might want to send it for the physical device.
Compared to uhid, we can now inject events on any physical device, not
just uhid virtual ones.

However, some devices require an explicit write on the Output Report
instead of the use of the control channel.
So also export hid_hw_output_report to BPF

In af93a167eda9, i2c_hid_parse was changed to continue with reading the
report descriptor before waiting for reset to be acknowledged.
This has lead to two regressions:
1. We fail to handle reset acknowledgment if it happens while reading
the report descriptor. The transfer sets I2C_HID_READ_PENDING, which
causes the IRQ handler to return without doing anything.
This affects both a Wacom touchscreen and a Sensel touchpad.
2. On a Sensel touchpad, reading the report descriptor this quickly
after reset results in all zeroes or partial zeroes.
The issues were observed on the Lenovo Thinkpad Z16 Gen 2.
The change in question was made based on a Microsoft article[0] stating
that Windows 8 *may* read the report descriptor in parallel with
awaiting reset acknowledgment, intended as a slight reset performance
optimization. Perhaps they only do this if reset is not completing
quickly enough for their tastes?
As the code is not currently ready to read registers in parallel with a
pending reset acknowledgment, and as reading quickly breaks the report
descriptor on the Sensel touchpad, revert to waiting for reset
acknowledgment before proceeding to read the report descriptor.

Some vendors reuse the same product ID for different tablets, making it
difficult for userspace to figure out which table is connected.
While matching the device name has been used in the past by userspace to
workaround this limitation, some devices have shown that this is not
always a valid approach [1].
However, if userspace could access the firmware version name, it would
be possible to know which tablet is actually connected by matching it
against a list of known firmware names [2].
This patch exposes the firmware version name in the hid->uniq field.

Hid-debug's rdesc output for a game controller contained a few question
marks and numeric IDs instead of the expected descriptive names.
This happens because:
1) the mapping data is missing event codes defined in input-event-codes.h
2) HID usages aren't up to date
3) hid_resolv_usage fails to account for the sensor pages' modifiers
Add missing event codes and update HID to HUT 1.5.

WinWing Orion2 throttle works with Linux out of box,
but the kernel sees only 16 of 47 buttons on the throttle base.
This module enables all buttons, and also adds LED controls.
Button numbers 0 .. 63 on Orion2 are reserved for throttle grip;
the throttle base buttons have numbers 64 .. 110.
Linux kernel HID subsystem only supports up to 80 buttons.
Remap throttle base buttons to numbers 32 .. 78,
reserving only numbers 0 .. 31 for buttons on the grip handle.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().

This patch is regarding the recent addition of support for the NSO
controllers to hid-nintendo. All controllers are working correctly with the
exception of the N64 controller, which is being identified as a mouse by
udev. This results in the joystick controlling the mouse cursor and the
controller not being detected by games.
The reason for this is because the N64's C buttons have been attributed to
BTN_FORWARD, BTN_BACK, BTN_LEFT, BTN_RIGHT, which are buttons typically
attributed to mice.
This patch changes those buttons to controller buttons, making the
controller be correctly identified as such.

The flag I2C_HID_READ_PENDING is used to serialize I2C operations.
However, this is not necessary, because I2C core already has its own
locking for that.
More importantly, this flag can cause a lock-up: if the flag is set in
i2c_hid_xfer() and an interrupt happens, the interrupt handler
(i2c_hid_irq) will check this flag and return immediately without doing
anything, then the interrupt handler will be invoked again in an
infinite loop.
Since interrupt handler is an RT task, it takes over the CPU and the
flag-clearing task never gets scheduled, thus we have a lock-up.
Delete this unnecessary flag.

And I see no reason for this additional level of indirection. struct
pcmidi_snd is far enough for the driver. Unless I am missing something?
So drop struct pk_device and convert all the users to use struct
pcmidi_snd directly. No need for doubled kmalloc+kfrees now.

The xf86-input-wacom driver does not treat '0' as a valid serial
number and will drop any input report which contains an
MSC_SERIAL = 0 event. The kernel driver already takes care to
avoid sending any MSC_SERIAL event if the value of serial[0] == 0
(which is the case for devices that don't actually report a
serial number), but this is not quite sufficient.
Only the lower 32 bits of the serial get reported to userspace,
so if this portion of the serial is zero then there can still
be problems.
This commit allows the driver to report either the lower 32 bits
if they are non-zero or the upper 32 bits otherwise.

After legacy suspend/resume via ACPI S3, sensor read operation fails
with timeout. Also, it will cause delay in resume operation as there
will be retries on failure.
This is caused by commit f645a90e8ff7 ("HID: intel-ish-hid:
ishtp-hid-client: use helper functions for connection"), which used
helper functions to simplify connect, reset and disconnect process.
Also avoid freeing and allocating client buffers again during reconnect
process.
But there is a case, when ISH firmware resets after ACPI S3 suspend,
ishtp bus driver frees client buffers. Since there is no realloc again
during reconnect, there are no client buffers available to send connection
requests to the firmware. Without successful connection to the firmware,
subsequent sensor reads will timeout.
To address this issue, ishtp bus driver does not free client buffers on
warm reset after S3 resume. Simply add the buffers from the read list
to free list of buffers.

If a input device is opened before hid_hw_start is called, events may
not be received from the hardware. In the case of USB-backed devices,
for example, the hid_hw_start function is responsible for filling in
the URB which is submitted when the input device is opened. If a device
is opened prematurely, polling will never start because the device will
not have been in the correct state to send the URB.
Because the wacom driver registers its input devices before calling
hid_hw_start, there is a window of time where a device can be opened
and end up in an inoperable state. Some ARM-based Chromebooks in particular
reliably trigger this bug.
This commit splits the wacom_register_inputs function into two pieces.
One which is responsible for setting up the allocated inputs (and runs
prior to hid_hw_start so that devices are ready for any input events
they may end up receiving) and another which only registers the devices
(and runs after hid_hw_start to ensure devices can be immediately opened
without issue). Note that the functions to initialize the LEDs and remotes
are also moved after hid_hw_start to maintain their own dependency chains.

This commit marks kfuncs as such inside the .BTF_ids section. The upshot
of these annotations is that we'll be able to automatically generate
kfunc prototypes for downstream users. The process is as follows:
1. In source, use BTF_KFUNCS_START/END macro pair to mark kfuncs
2. During build, pahole injects into BTF a "bpf_kfunc" BTF_DECL_TAG for
each function inside BTF_KFUNCS sets
3. At runtime, vmlinux or module BTF is made available in sysfs
4. At runtime, bpftool (or similar) can look at provided BTF and
generate appropriate prototypes for functions with "bpf_kfunc" tag
To ensure future kfunc are similarly tagged, we now also return error
inside kfunc registration for untagged kfuncs. For vmlinux kfuncs,
we also WARN(), as initcall machinery does not handle errors.

Follow the docs at Documentation/bpf/kfuncs.rst:
- declare the function with `__bpf_kfunc`
- disables missing prototype warnings, which allows to remove them from
include/linux/hid-bpf.h
Removing the prototypes is not an issue because we currently have to
redeclare them when writing the BPF program. They will eventually be
generated by bpftool directly AFAIU.

When the kfunc hid_bpf_attach_prog() is called, we called twice fdget():
one for fetching the type of the bpf program, and one for actually
attaching the program to the device.
The problem is that between those two calls, we have no guarantees that
the prog_fd is still the same file descriptor for the given program.
Solve this by calling bpf_prog_get() earlier, and use this to fetch the
program type.

There's a Cirque touchpad that wakes system up without anything touched
the touchpad. The input report is empty when this happens.
The reason is stated in HID over I2C spec, 7.2.8.2:
"If the DEVICE wishes to wake the HOST from its low power state, it can
issue a wake by asserting the interrupt."
This is fine if OS can put system back to suspend by identifying input
wakeup count stays the same on resume, like Chrome OS Dark Resume [0].
But for regular distro such policy is lacking.
Though the change doesn't bring any impact on power consumption for
touchpad is minimal, other i2c-hid device may depends on SLEEP control
power. So use a quirk to limit the change scope.

Add a prefix "amd_sfh" to float_to_int() so that function represents

The client_opened variable was used to track if the hidraw was opened by any
clients to silence keyboard/mouse events while opened. However, there was no
counting of how many clients were opened, so opening two at the same time and

clients.

This cleans up the locking logic so that the spinlock is consistently used for
access to a small handful of struct variables, and the mutex is exclusively and
consistently used for ensuring that mutliple threads aren't trying to
send/receive reports at the same time. Previously, only some report
transactions were guarded by this mutex, potentially breaking atomicity. The
mutex has been renamed to reflect this usage.

After the commit 666cf30a589a ("HID: sensor-hub: Allow multi-function
sensor devices") hub devices are claimed by hidraw driver in hid_connect().
This causes stoppping of processing HID reports by hid core due to
optimization.
In such case, the hid-sensor-custom driver cannot match a known custom
sensor in hid_sensor_custom_get_known() because it try to check custom
properties which weren't filled from the report because hid core didn't
parsed it.
As result, custom sensors like hinge angle sensor and LISS sensors
don't work.
Mark the sensor hub devices claimed by some driver to avoid hidraw-related
optimizations.

There appear to be a few different ways that Wacom devices can deal with
confidence:
1. If the device looses confidence in a touch, it will first clear
the tipswitch flag in one report, and then clear the confidence
flag in a second report. This behavior is used by e.g. DTH-2452.
2. If the device looses confidence in a touch, it will clear both
the tipswitch and confidence flags within the same report. This
behavior is used by some AES devices.
3. If the device looses confidence in a touch, it will clear *only*
the confidence bit. The tipswitch bit will remain set so long as
the touch is tracked. This behavior may be used in future devices.
The driver does not currently handle situation 3 properly. Touches that
loose confidence will remain "in prox" and essentially frozen in place
until the tipswitch bit is finally cleared. Not only does this result
in userspace seeing a stuck touch, but it also prevents pen arbitration
from working properly (the pen won't send events until all touches are
up, but we don't currently process events from non-confident touches).
This commit centralizes the checking of the confidence bit in the
wacom_wac_finger_slot() function and has 'prox' depend on it. In the
case where situation 3 is encountered, the treat the touch as though
it was removed, allowing both userspace and the pen arbitration to
act normally.

Since it's a divide-by-0 error, by tracking the code for potential
denominator issues, we've spotted 2 places in which this could happen;
so let's guard against the possibility and log in the kernel if the
condition happens. This is specially useful since some data that
fills some denominators are read from the joycon HW in some cases,
increasing the potential for flaws.

This adds support for the nintendo switch online controllers which
include the SNES, Genesis, and N64 Controllers.
As each nso controller only implements a subset of what a pro
controller can do. Each of these 'features' were broken up in to
seperate functions which include right stick, left stick, imu, and
dpad and depending on the controller type that it is, it will call
the supported functions appropriately.
Each controller now has a struct which maps the bit within the hid
in report to a button.
The name given to the device now comes directly from the hid
device name rather than looking up a predefined string.

Commit 46a0a2c96f0f ("HID: lenovo: Detect quirk-free fw on cptkbd and
stop applying workaround") introduced a regression for ThinkPad
TrackPoint Keyboard II which has similar quirks to cptkbd (so it uses
the same workarounds) but slightly different so that there are
false-positives during detecting well-behaving firmware. This commit
restricts detecting well-behaving firmware to the only model which
known to have one and have stable enough quirks to not cause
false-positives.

report-descriptor
A recent bug made me look at Microsoft's i2c-hid docs again
and I noticed the following:
"""
4. Issue a RESET (Host Initiated Reset) to the Device.
5. Retrieve report descriptor from the device.
Note: Steps 4 and 5 may be done in parallel to optimize for time on I²C.
Since report descriptors are (a) static and (b) quite long, Windows 8 may
issue a request for 5 while it is waiting for a response from the device
on 4.
"""
Which made me think that maybe on some touchpads the reset ack is delayed
till after the report descriptor is read ?
Testing a T-BAO Tbook Air 12.5 with a 0911:5288 (SIPODEV SP1064?) touchpad,
for which the I2C_HID_QUIRK_NO_IRQ_AFTER_RESET quirk was first introduced,
shows that reading the report descriptor before waiting for the reset
helps with the missing reset IRQ. Now the reset does get acked properly,
but the ack sometimes still does not happen unfortunately.
Still moving the wait for ack to after reading the report-descriptor,
is probably a good idea, both to make i2c-hid's behavior closer to
Windows as well as to speed up probing i2c-hid devices.
While at it drop the dbg_hid() for a malloc failure, malloc failures
already get logged extensively by malloc itself.

For every ishtp client driver during initialization state, the flow is:
1 - Allocate an ISHTP client instance
2 - Reserve a host id and link the client instance
3 - Search a firmware client using UUID and get related
client information
4 - Bind firmware client id to the ISHTP client instance
5 - Set the state the ISHTP client instance to CONNECTING
6 - Send connect request to firmware
7 - Register event callback for messages from the firmware
During deinitizalization state, the flow is:
9 - Set the state the ISHTP client instance to ISHTP_CL_DISCONNECTING
10 - Issue disconnect request to firmware
11 - Unlike the client instance
12 - Flush message queue
13 - Free ISHTP client instance
Step 2-7 are identical to the steps of client driver initialization
and driver reset flow, but reallocation of the RX/TX ring buffers
can be avoided in reset flow.
Also for step 9-12, they are identical to the steps of client driver
failure handling after connect request, driver reset flow and
driver removing.
So, add two helper functions to simplify client driver code.

Users have reported problems with recent Lenovo laptops that contain
an IDEA5002 I2C HID device. Reports include fans turning on and
running even at idle and spurious wakeups from suspend.
Presumably in the Windows ecosystem there is an application that
uses the HID device. Maybe that puts it into a lower power state so
it doesn't cause spurious events.
This device doesn't serve any functional purpose in Linux as nothing
interacts with it so blacklist it from being probed. This will
prevent the GPIO driver from setting up the GPIO and the spurious
interrupts and wake events will not occur.

`strncpy` is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings
[1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string
interfaces.
A suitable replacement is `strscpy` [2] due to the fact that it
guarantees NUL-termination on the destination buffer without
unnecessarily NUL-padding.
Furthermore, let's make sure `hid->xyz` and `ev->u.create2.xyz` are the
same size at compile time to prevent silent truncation.
With these changes, it is abundantly clear what the intent and behavior
of the code is -- We are getting a string to string copy with
NUL-termination and no truncation.

Honor MagicBook 13 2023 has a touchpad which do not switch to the multitouch

report the input mode at touchpad(3), while itself working under mouse mode. As

The touchpad reports as BLTP7853, which cannot retrive any useful manufacture

Some devices managed by this driver automatically set brightness to 0
before entering a suspended state and reset it back to a default
brightness level after the resume:
this has the effect of having the kernel report wrong brightness
status after a sleep, and on some devices (like the Asus RC71L) that
brightness is the intensity of LEDs directly facing the user.
Fix the above issue by setting back brightness to the level it had
before entering a sleep state.

The Glorious Model I mouse has a buggy HID report descriptor for its
keyboard endpoint (used for programmable buttons). For report ID 2, there
is a mismatch between Logical Minimum and Usage Minimum in the array that
reports keycodes.
The offending portion of the descriptor: (from hid-decode)
0x95, 0x05, // Report Count (5) 30
0x75, 0x08, // Report Size (8) 32
0x15, 0x00, // Logical Minimum (0) 34
0x25, 0x65, // Logical Maximum (101) 36
0x05, 0x07, // Usage Page (Keyboard) 38
0x19, 0x01, // Usage Minimum (1) 40
0x29, 0x65, // Usage Maximum (101) 42
0x81, 0x00, // Input (Data,Arr,Abs) 44
This bug shifts all programmed keycodes up by 1. Importantly, this causes
"empty" array indexes of 0x00 to be interpreted as 0x01, ErrorRollOver.
The presence of ErrorRollOver causes the system to ignore all keypresses
from the endpoint and breaks the ability to use the programmable buttons.
Setting byte 41 to 0x00 fixes this, and causes keycodes to be interpreted
correctly.
Also, USB_VENDOR_ID_GLORIOUS is changed to USB_VENDOR_ID_SINOWEALTH,
and a new ID for Laview Technology is added. Glorious seems to be
white-labeling controller boards or mice from these vendors. There isn't a
single canonical vendor ID for Glorious products.

When a user requests more than 60 bytes of data the MCP2221 must chunk
the data in chunks up to 60 bytes long (see command/response code 0x40
in the datasheet).
In order to signal that the device has more data the (undocumented) byte
at byte index 2 of the Get I2C Data response uses the value 0x54. This
contrasts with the case for the final data chunk where the value
returned is 0x55 (MCP2221_I2C_READ_COMPL). The fact that 0x55 was not
returned in the response was interpreted by the driver as a failure
meaning that all reads of more than 60 bytes would fail.
Add support for reads that are split over multiple chunks by looking for
the response code indicating that more data is expected and continuing
the read as the code intended. Some timing delays are required to ensure
the chip has time to refill its FIFO as data is read in from the I2C
bus. This timing has been tested in my system when configured for bus
speeds of 50KHz, 100KHz, and 400KHz and operates well.

Since the initial commit of this driver the I2C bus speed has been
reconfigured for every single transfer. This is despite the fact that we
never change the speed and it is never "lost" by the chip.
Upon investigation we find that what was really happening was that the
setting of the bus speed had the side effect of cancelling a previous
failed command if there was one, thereby freeing the bus. This is the
part that was actually required to keep the bus operational in the face
of failed commands.
Instead of always setting the speed, we now correctly cancel any failed
commands as they are detected. This means we can just set the bus speed
at probe time and remove the previous speed sets on each transfer.
This has the effect of improving performance and reducing the number of
commands required to complete transfers.

In scenarios where an I2C device tree is defined in ACPI and exists off
the MCP2221 I2C bus, the devices could not be instantiated.
Mark the USB port that the MCP2221 is connected to as its ACPI companion
so that the USB device can be bound to the ACPI tree when enumerated.
With this change the downstream I2C tree devices can be instantiated on
ACPI systems.

During the probe we add an I2C adapter and as soon as we add that adapter
it may be used for a transfer (e.g via the code in i2cdetect()).
Those transfers are not able to complete and time out. This is because the
HID raw_event callback (mcp2221_raw_event) will not be invoked until the
HID device's 'driver_input_lock' is marked up at the completion of the
probe in hid_device_probe(). This starves the driver of the responses it
is waiting for.
In order to allow the I2C transfers to complete while we are still in the
probe, start the IO once we have completed init of the HID device.
This issue seems to have been seen before and a patch was submitted but
it seems it was never accepted. See:
